Horror books for teens

Hello readers! I’m so glad you guys could join me in another book recommendation post. Today’s post is about to get spooky. Whether you’re looking for a fright or a tale to tell around the campfire, grab your flashlight and get ready because today I’m going to be sharing with you my favorite horror books for teens.

RECOMMENDED HORROR BOOKS:

  • The Collector- Pediophobia is the term used to describe a fear of dolls. If you have that, please stay away from this book and skip ahead to my next suggestion. For all you thrill seekers out there, this book is for you. Written by K.R. Alexander, it tells the tale of a girl who unsuspectingly moves to a new town to live with her grandma. Though her grandma tells her to stay away from the woods, something in it seems to call her… This book isn’t as scary as others, but it did scare me a little to read it at night and the cover is… really creepy. I’d recommend this to young adults who don’t want to have nightmares, but still want to read horror. (Aka people like me)This also isn’t the only book by K.R Alexander. If you’re looking for more by him, I recommend The Fear Zone and The Undrowned. They are also really engaging horror stories that horror fans will love.

  • Goosebumps series- Of course, who could forget the infamous Goosebumps. How many books are there now? I’ve lost track. Seriously, there are so many scary options for you guys to read in this series by R.L Stine. (what is it with horror authors and using initials?) Monsters, Ghosts, Dolls, you name it. This series has everything for everyone and you don’t even have to start at book one! There are also movies and a t.v show based off of these, but I’d highly recommend reading some of the books first!

  • The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding- This book I feel like is on the verge of being supernatural, but it’s really creepy, so I think horror is the best fit. This book is for younger readers, so it’s not so scary, but still is a great horror book. It is written by Alexandra Bracken, and it is about a boy named Prosper who suddenly finds himself being the victim of a demon looking for revenge from Prosper’s family. This book kept me engaged and though the ending is a little rushed, I still really like it.

  • Any book written by Mary Downing Hahn- Mary Downing Hahn is one of the best horror writers for young adults out there. Her stories are all original and are determined to give you the creeps. Some of her works include: One for Sorrow, The Girl in The Locked Room, Took, and much more. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a good horror story.

Hopefully this post inspired you to maybe try a new genre that you never thought you would like. I started reading some horror books last year. Before then, I wasn’t really into them, but now that I tried some of the books above thanks to a recommendation from one of my friends, I’d definitely recommend them to you readers if you guys want to read a good scary tale. (Just don’t read them at night) If you’re already a scary book fan, then maybe you have some new book ideas to try! I also wanted to say that another good horror author is Stephen King. Warning though, his books are a lot scarier than these ones and are for older readers. However he does have a lot of popular works like It, which they made a movie out of. I personally haven’t read any of his books, but if you’re a hardcore creepy book fan then you should check his books out. I think I’ll stick with my Curious George: A Halloween Boo fest though. Well, that’s it for today. I’ll see you guys tomorrow, bye!
