What’s up everyone, welcome back to my blog! As many of you can probably relate, my school registration night is tonight, which can obviously only mean one thing: School is getting nearer and nearer. And as the idea of going back to studying hard and taking tests on the regular comes to mind, many of you are probably experiencing PSVB, also known as Post Summer Vacation Blues. Now, I’ll be attending a virtual academy, aka online school, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be attending math class and all that. So today I thought I’d do a “Back to School” post. Basically I’ll just be giving you guys (and myself) some back to school advice and tips. So let’s get into this. ➡️
Even though school normally is pretty boring, I’m sure many of you are excited to go back and see your friends after what seemed to be an endless stretch of self isolation and boredom. You might even be excited to go back to school! Normally when this time of year rolls around the one thing that gives me joy is...drumroll please...back to school shopping! If you don’t know this about me, I absolutely love shopping and buying new things, especially clothes. Every year I take comfort in the fact that my wardrobe will get spruced up and I’ll be looking good for my first day of school. However, sometimes finding the right stores with all of your shopping needs is hard. Below is a list of my favorite stores to give you guys a little inspiration:
Forever 21
Hollister
Aeropostale
American Eagle
Shein (online store)
Abercrombie and Fitch
Kohl’s
Old Navy
Target
That’s a lot of stores, so go ahead and get your shopping spree on!
If that’s not enough to satisfy you, here are some tips and tricks on how to cure first day of school nerves:
*Listen to an inspiring playlist. Music has been proven to calm anxiety and uplift you, so create a playlist of all your favorite songs to give you a little pep in your step
*Prepare yourself. This probably isn’t your first rodeo, so take comfort in the fact that you know what’s likely to happen. Memorize your schedule and find out if you have any classes with your friends. Do a little reading on your school website or take advice from an older friend/relative.
*Stock up. You already have your amazing clothes, now you just need some school supplies. Make sure to double check your supply list so you're ready for your first day.
*Be confident. Personally, I like to read the Bible and pray to give me strength, but if you’re not into that, don’t worry, there’s many other ways to boost your confidence. You can write your self inspirational notes. How about a glow up the night before? Here is a little list of things to do to make sure you’re looking and feeling your best:
Do something relaxing: read, watch Netflix, meditate
Get at least 8 hours of sleep
Do your whole beauty routine, aka, face mask, shave, pluck eyebrows, exfoliate, drink lots of water, lotion, brush teeth, do your nails,
Put away electronics
Eat a healthy breakfast
*Plan. No more procrastinating, it’s time to get things done. This includes:
Make lunch
Pick out clothes the night before (pick your best and cutest outfit)
Set alarm
Pack backpack
*Be kind and be yourself. This might sound cliche, but it’s the easiest one and it’s good advice, trust me. Make sure to be social and nice to your friends and the people around you!
*If you are looking for more tips and want to go all out I have a Pinterest board full of school stuff that you can go look at if you want.
Another thing you guys might need to prepare for is gym class. Some of you might love it, some might hate it. Whatever the case, you should be prepared so that you can have a successful first class. Here is a gym bag essentials list that will save your life:
Deodorant
Water
Hair ties
Shorts/leggings
Tank top/t-shirt
Socks
Running shoes
Cute gym bag
Now you can show up to gym looking cute and prepared!
Now this next checklist you will thank me for. Not only will it help you do better in school, but it will actually improve your experience if you’re struggling to stay focused. I saw this on Pinterest and I hope you guys can put it to good use.
School Do’s and Don'ts
Do:
Sit in the front of your classes
Your homework and turn it in on time
Participate in school events and activities
Organize your folders and locker
Study at least 2 times a week
Stay focused
Don’t:
Skip class
Procrastinate
Give up easily
Fall asleep in class
Get side tracked
Focus on your peers more than your grades
So if you stick to that list, you’ll most likely do well in school. However, I know it can be a little tough to complete all of these, and that’s why I have one more tip for anyone reading: set goals. I have been doing this for a while and basically I create a goals list that I try to stick by during the school year. One thing though, do not set unrealistic goals. Only you know your limits, and it’s not your job to try to overachieve. Just set reasonable expectations that will keep you on track, and you’ll be fine!
I hope everyone liked this post, if you did be sure to give it a heart! Hopefully everyone has a great first day of school, I can’t wait till I can see you all again! 😘👋
